NEWS UPDATES
2005 – THE YEAR AHEAD
This year we have another full schedule of 14 shows, from Whangarei to Invercargill, and Greymouth for the first time. We have been lucky with our dates for 2005, with approximately two shows a month from April till November.
TAUPO 22 - 24 April
We have secured the Taupo Events Centre for the weekend, a venue that is perfect for our needs. The show will be held the Friday till Sunday, and not the Monday, which is Anzac Day. The reason for this is that the holiday-makers head home on the Monday. But because it is a holiday-destination we feel Taupo will work well at this time of year.
GREYMOUTH 7 & 8 May
Our first show on the West Coast ever!! The Coast is booming - tourism at an all time high, and there are new large mines opening in the district. At present there are 200 houses being built due to housing shortages. We have checked out Greymouth and there is plenty of optimism and development. The Coast is very much cut off from the rest of the South Island by the Southern Alps, so the locals keenly support events that come to town.Greymouth also pulls in people from Hokitika which is only 35 minutes south and Westport an hour to the north.
It will be a 2 day show - Saturday and Sunday, with set-up on the Friday.
BLENHEIM 13 - 15 May
An excellent show when we returned in 2004. Great venue, good crowds and good spending. A friendly, up-beat show. It is being held on exactly the same weekend as previously – we have been told by locals that this is the perfect time of year to hold it!
NEW PLYMOUTH 3 - 6 June
We are returning to our traditional Queen’s Birthday weekend for the show. It will be 4 days, closing early at 4 pm on the Monday. Always a good show.
WHANGAREI 10 - 12 June
A great show in 2004, which we will be repeating in 05.
HAMILTON 8 - 10 July
We have moved this show to July (previously Fieldays weekend in June) to capitalise on the huge population base of the Waikato as a stand alone event .
WELLINGTON 15 - 17 July
In 2004 we held the show over Queen’s Birthday weekend but in 2005 we are returning on a regular weekend - with a twist! Late night Friday (open till 9 pm) - a girls’ night out, for lots of that lovely retail therapy. Since the Wellington venue is in the heart of the capital’s business district, what a great opportunity to invite the “office girls” down to the show after work, for a glass of bubbly, some entertainment, and shopping, shopping, shopping with, or hopefully without their husbands, boyfriends or kids!
We will also be sending information about the Wellington show to all diplomats and government departments as they are great spenders of higher priced items.
ROTORUA 12 - 14 August
It’s been about 5 years since we were last here and during that time the city has grown alongside a booming local and international tourism industry.
NORTH SHORE 19 - 21 August
We were very pleased with last year’s show - a good turnout with plenty of spenders. The North Shore Events Centre is an excellent venue with a carpeted floor and good lighting. Best of all it has tons of FREE parking right out the front of the building – a rare thing in Auckland!
CHRISTCHURCH 16 - 18 September
DUNEDIN 23 - 25 September
& INVERCARGILL 30 Sept - 2 October
As always, all 3 shows performed very well in 2004 so we’ll be back for more of the same.
AUCKLAND CHRISTMAS 4 - 6 November
Instead of the Auckland Showgrounds, we are moving to the brand new TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau, due for completion in April 05. It is being promoted widely as the hottest new venue in Auckland and has attracted huge public interest. Only 20 minutes from the central city via the motorway, it is easy to get to and clearly visible to over 110,000 vehicles per day. The facilities are superb and will really show off everyone’s crafts to their very best! As always we will be promoting Christmas shopping, shopping, shopping!
HASTINGS XMAS 11 - 13 November Our final show for the year and two years since our last show in Hastings. With heaps of free parking, it promises to be a great show with Christmas just around the corner.
