NEWS UPDATES

April 2005 Newsletter

Greetings everyone and welcome to another busy year!

We have a couple of important notices for you so we thought this newsletter was the best way to reach everyone.

First of all – we’ve had to change venues in Rotorua and secondly we’ve had to change the Tauranga show to Hastings. For the long versions, keep on reading…

Rotorua

When we booked (and confirmed) the Rotorua Sportsdrome in 2003 and 2004, we were not advised that the centre was about to undergo a major redevelopment, which would not only interrupt the venue itself, but also the public access and parking. The inconveniences were too great so we have now shifted venues.

The GOOD NEWS is that our new venue is awesome!! It’s the brand new Rotorua’s Arena, which was opened by Dame Susan Devoy and Sir Howard Morrison earlier this year. It was a very prestigious opening for a very, very nice events venue. So we’ve been amazingly lucky to secure a booking on the very same weekend – August 12th – 14th. Plus it’s got heaps of good parking. So that’s excellent news! Full details will be in the show guidelines as usual.

Please note - ALL SITES AT ROTORUA ARE NOW 2 METRES DEEP.

Tauranga

Most unfortunately, the new venue at Mt. Maunganui, the brand new Baypark Events Centre is so brand new that it won’t be completed by the time our show comes along. It seems that delays with resource consents, traffic management plans etc. etc. have held up the building process by several months. There is absolutely nowhere else in Tauranga/Mt. Maunganui that we can hold the show.

We have therefore booked in at the Hastings Racecourse. We were keen to get the show back to Hastings rather than Napier this time. We feel it is better to alternate these two cities, and this will be our first time back in Hastings for two years.

All those who have booked in to Tauranga will be transferred to Hastings. However, if you now wish to cancel, please advise us before FRIDAY, 22nd APRIL. There will be no cancellation fee.

2005 Bookings.

Bookings have been strong in all craft mediums this year and already some shows are fully booked. Jewellery for instance – as of early April this craft medium has been fully booked for all shows. Stamping and Scrapbooking is also fully booked for all shows except Taupo and Christchurch.

Greymouth

The Greymouth show was sold out completely by the middle of March, and now stands with a waiting list of 8 people. Even with a marquee, there simply is not enough room to accommodate everyone at this show. We’re really looking forward to it and the response we’ve had from Coasters so far is very positive! We’ll be there on May 7th & 8th.

New Office

We are loving our new office. It’s got such a pretty garden with loads of monarch butterflies. And the organic vegetables from the veggie patch and greenhouse out the back have been a real treat!

Now that we’ve got our computers and phones sorted it’s back to a real office after all!

Our brother, Rob, has also settled into his new office in Ferrymead. Rob is totally responsible for Gardenz these days, while Kim and Fiona have taken over all the Craft Shows. So sadly, we won’t have Roberto’s cheery face at the shows this year. But I’m sure he’ll pop up at the September show in Christchurch.  If you need to contact him, his details are:

Rob Dunkley, Show & Tell Ltd,

     PO Box 41070, Ferrymead, Christchurch

TV and Radio Adverts

We’ve been having great fun over the last few weeks, working on our new advertising commercials for 2005. We’ve managed to track down our original sound bed which was written especially for us. It’s a fantastic piece of music and used to be our signature tune. We are using it again this year for both the TV and radio campaigns. We’re sure that as soon as you hear it you’ll recognise. It’s very upbeat and uplifting at the same time.

Updated Website

We are also upgrading our website and should have it on-line in a few weeks. The old site is still valid but the new one looks so fantastic. Same address as before www.craftshows.co.nz. Check it out! And if you have some fantastic photos of your own work that you would like to put up on the site, email them to us at shows@dunkleys.co.nz and we’ll let you know.

Best wishes from all of us at Dunkleys and we look forward to seeing you soon!
