POT SHOP

Pot Shop
is a pottery co-operative featuring the work of some of the
innovative and technically expert clay workers from the wider
Christchurch area. The direct and simple name belies the wide
range of skills and techniques that are presented by the
grouping of the various talents. For many years the Pot Shop has
operated from the Arts Centre of Christchurch, but with that
venue closed the work of the members can be viewed at craft
shows such as Dunkleys, pottery exhibitions and by contacting
the various members directly or through their individual
websites. The co-operative features work by the following
co-operative member artists the description of their work
covers their principal activity though most work in a wide range
of techniques.
Phyll
Barr specialises in small vessels with mocca diffusion
decoration electric fired.
Frederika
Ernsten produces thrown domestic ware and larger display
vessels in electric fired stoneware, also pit fired bottle
forms.
Mary Lou
Foate makes hand built attractively decorated ornamental work.
Renate
Galetzka uses slip decoration to produce her brightly coloured
thrown electric fired domestic ware.
Kay Hayes
throws functional domestic ware electric fired.
Neil Hey
produces brightly glazed decorative and functional pieces
reduction fired including salt glaze and raku pieces.
Pat James
has special skill with crystal glazes and also produces
electric and gas fired functional pieces.
Yi Ming
Lin is a clay artist making hand built and thrown sculptural
work, including large figurative pieces, using reduction and
oxidation firing techniques.
The shop
also displays or has access to work by other prominent local
potters.
